Riding is a fun and wonderful experience for children and grownups. For junior riders, there is a lot to be learned about focus and responsibility. The Brawley Farms program is tailored to meet your needs. For those who are just beginning, we have an excellent school-horse program to help you get started. For the show rider and horse owner, we have a full-training program, which includes lessons and professional rides. Whether your goal is local shows, the international ring, or simply learning to be the best rider you can be, we have the program and ability to help you achieve your goals. Our commitment is to build a strong relationship between horse, rider, and coach based on knowledge, understanding, and trust.
Our students include past USEF and Medal Maclay winners -- these are the most competitive and prestigious hunt seat equitation classes for junior riders in the United States. Brawley Farms is also works with riders who want to show at the local level or learn to ride well. We are willing to teach anyone who really wants to work and learn at any level. Many combined-training riders come to Brawley to improve their stadium jumping and dressage.

Brumby
15.3h grey gelding
Brumby is the newest addition to our school horse program. He has done it all, from being a pack horse in the mountains to jumping. Brumby is quickly learning the finer points in his training, and is being enjoyed by all who ride him. A real trooper!

Neil
15.2h grey Thoroughbred gelding
Really cute personality! Neil is a great horse to learn to jump on. He loves treats. Neil says, "I can't wait for the boring flat warm-up so we can jump!"

Quiggley
14.2h pinto pony gelding
Says he is really a small horse - NOT a pony. A little shy but loves attention. Can jump little courses and is very smooth on the flat. Also appreciates treats!

Yankee
15.3h chestnut gelding
An absolute saint to learn on. He takes care of everyone and is a super gentleman. Yankee only does flat work now with an occasional cross bar to jump. Loves treats and he will nicker until he gets a "cookie"!
Ready to get started? We have everything needed for you to get started riding, but you'll want to wear stretchy pants with a slim leg, and boots with a heel. You may also want your own helmet, though we have several sizes to try. If you have questions about riding attire, please give us a call! 503-743-4414. We welcome curious riders to come to our farm and watch a few lessons so you can see what it is like. Give us a call and come on out!
